IPL 2023: England Test captain Ben Stokes has left Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp for national duty. This comes as a big blow to CSK who will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday in Indian Premier League 2023 Qualifier 1. If MS Dhoni-led side could overcome GT, they will directly reach the summit clash of season 16 of the cash-rich league.
Ben Stokes was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for a significant price at the IPL 2023 auction. The franchise purchased the English red-ball captain for INR 16.25 crore, but they were unable to maximise his potential, and he was sidelined for the duration of the season.
This season, Stokes only participated in two games, scoring 15 runs in two innings while conceding 18 runs in his sole over of bowling.

Beginning on June 1, England will host Ireland for a single Test match. Following the conclusion of the Test match, England will prepare for The Ashes.
Captain Stokes has come home to join England squad before their upcoming national assignments.
The all-rounder has returned home to play for his country’s team, Chennai Super Kings reported on their social media account. They posted a picture of him with the CSK gear and stated: “Home bound for the national duty! ✈️🇬🇧 We’ll be whistling for you, Stokesy! Until next time!”
The final one-off Test at The Lord’s will be played after Ireland’s tour match against Essex, which begins on May 28.
The absence of Stokes won’t affect Chennai Super Kings, however, as captain MS Dhoni has played with the same lineup for the past four games and isn’t expected to make any changes moving forward.
On Tuesday, May 23, at their home stadium in Chennai, the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK will compete against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1.
