How Conor McGregor Tackled the Current Bare Knuckle Fighters in the UFC

  • Conor McGregor Vs Eddie Alvarez: UFC 205

Conor McGregor, the featherweight champion, lived up to the hype and defeated Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title to become the first fighter in the history of the organization to carry two belts at once. UFC 205 mostly lived up to expectations. By putting mixed martial arts in one of boxing’s biggest venues, Madison Square Garden, the UFC also made history.

Alvarez, an improbable champion, was given the opportunity to face Rafael dos Anjos more so because of his professional achievements than because of his two split-decision triumphs over Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis. However, he took advantage of the chance by winning through first-round knockout. After dominating the featherweight category, McGregor fought Nate Diaz twice, with the second contest going on to become the most popular UFC event ever. Along with its potential for the box business, this fight has a fantastic stylistic battle between McGregor’s pressure-focused style and massive power against Alvarez’s sharp boxing and strong grappling.

Eddie Alvarez is knocked out by Conor McGregor using punches at 3:04 in the second round. That was a top-to-bottom devastation of epic proportions, an evisceration of the purported best lightweight on the face of the earth. By positioning Alvarez at the end of his long reach, employing the jab more frequently than in prior fights, and dragging the champion onto successive left-hand counters, he demolished Alvarez.

  • McGregor vs Mendes – UFC 189  2015

Conor McGregor declared his intention to defeat Chad “Money” Mendes to anyone who will listen. He supported the discussion with a second-round TKO victory against Mendes in the main event of UFC 189 on Saturday night in the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Mendes swiftly proved those who believed he could defeat McGregor right. Those who claimed McGregor could get back up quickly were also accurate. Early in the first round, Mendes knocked McGregor to the ground, but The Notorious One rose to his feet and the fight resumed with stand-up exchanges.

But the takedowns weren’t finished yet. In the first frame, Mendes went on to defeat McGregor twice more. He prevailed at the bout’s conclusion and hurt a bleeding McGregor.

In the second frame, Mendes returned to the ring. Mendes gained another takedown and began to elbow McGregor after McGregor landed a couple of blows on the feet.

But McGregor’s ability to knock out opponents proved to be too much. Late in the second round, when the two men were still on their feet, McGregor quickly began firing combinations. Mendes had the early advantage, but the 26-year-old Irishman delivered the winning strike when he smacked his adversary in the jaw with a left-handed punch. Herb Dean eventually decided to terminate the fight after Mendes was knocked to the ground.

This weekend, McGregor’s former opponents- Mendes and Alvarez will co-headline BKFC 41.

The event will be headlined by also former UFC fighters- Mike Perry and Like Rockhold.
