The incident took place in the extratime of the game. Past the 98th minute, Bengaluru FC was awarded a free kick. Much to the astonishment of the Kerala Blasters team, Sunil Chhetri took a quick freekick to put the ball into the back of the net.

On the other hand, the Kerala Blasters team were preparing the ball and was bust taking their defensive positions. Match Referee Crystal John, didn’t mark the wall and neither did he blow the whistle. But the GOAL was given.

The Kerala Blasters players went on to protest before angrily walking off the pitch in the 103rd minute of the game. The Blues remained on the pitch till the 120th minute mark to take the win in their favour. Bengaluru will meet Mumbai City FC in the semi finals of the ISL 2022-23 season.

The incident didn’t go well with the Kerala Blasters and the Indian fans. They voied out their opinions on social media, and even went on to criticise Sunil Chhetri.
