InsideSport reached out to BCCI to check what will be the procedure to select the selectors? We were informed that ‘CAC will shortlist the applications and call shortlisted candidates for interview’.
When probed where is CAC? BCCI official got stumped.
“Yes we understand Cricket Advisory Committee at this stage is not functional. We will get that going soon, We will announce new CAC soon’, said a top BCCI official.

Where is CAC?
In all likelihood, the BCCI will appoint a new selection committee, but one doesn’t understand how the board will achieve the result without a Cricket Advisory Committee.
For those of you who are not familiar with the CAC, this committee shortlists the candidates to be interviewed. Here comes the real surprise. The CAC is yet to be constituted.
Roadmap to appoint NEW CAC? The BCCI is likely to announce the rejigged CAC before the end of weekend. The board also has plans to appoint the new selection committee by December 15.
Until or unless CAC gets appointed, the process to appoint NEW SELECTORS will not move forward.
Overwhelming Response for the post of SELECTORS: Meanwhile BCCI has got overwhelming response for the post of SELECTORS. The cricket board has recieved 80 plus applications for the post of 5 selectors.
The deadline to submit applications for the post of selectors ended on Monday. Among big names. Former India cricketers Nayan Mongia, Maninder Singh, Shivsundar Das, Hemang Badani, Subroto Banerjee and Ajay Ratra submitted their applications.
Other applicants include Atul Wassan, Ajay Ratra, Nikhil Chopra, Gyanendra Pandey, Pravanjan Mullick, Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Sanjay Raul, Saradindu Mukherjee, Subhomoy Das and D Vasu.
Other prominent names includes the likes of Rajesh Chauhan and Sameer Dighe.
- November 28, 6PM was the deadline for eligible former players to apply for the positions.
- The new committee should be in place by mid-December.
- For now, Chetan Sharma, Sunil Joshi, Debashish Mohanty and Harvinder Singh are in place until new committee comes in.
- The new selection committee’s first important job will be to pick the team for the Australia series.
