In all likelihood, the BCCI will appoint a new selection committee, but one doesn’t understand how the board will achieve the result without a Cricket Advisory Committee.

For those of you who are not familiar with the CAC, this committee shortlists the candidates to be interviewed. Here comes the real surprise. The CAC is yet to be constituted.

The current chief of the CAC, Madan Lal, is no longer eligible to continue as he has crossed the 70-year age barrier. Another member, former Indian pacer Rudra Pratap Singh, has taken up a role with the Mumbai Indians. This means he will have to give up his CAC membership to avoid any conflict of interest.
Former Indian women’s cricketer Sulakshana Naik forms the third member of the CAC, appointed in January 2020, for a period of one year.
