BCCI finally listens to fans! World Cup 2023 venues to have free drinking water

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, after meeting heads of state associations, said that the board was working on providing free water for fans at World Cup 2023

In what will be a huge relief to fans, the BCCI has decided to provide free drinking water for the World Cup 2023 games. With India hosting the World Cup 2023 later in October, there have been multiple questions around the facilities and services to fans at the venues. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has now spoken about providing free drinking water to the fans.

World Cup 2023: Fans to get free drinking water

As per news agency PTI, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that the board was working on providing free drinking water to the spectators. As per a NDTV report, BCCI is hoping to partner with Coca Cola to provide free drinking water to fans. The decision reportedly came after Jay Shah’s meeting with the heads of various state associations.

Apart from free drinking water, discussion was also held on the housekeeping, toilets and maintaining the hygiene of cricket stadiums. The pricing of the tickets and the schedule also featured in the discussion, as per reports.

There have been many questions aiming the facilities provided by the boards to fans at the stadium. From the ticket buying experience to the hygeine at stadiums, fans have been disappointed on many occasions. However, with India fully hosting the World Cup 2023, it is expected that amends will be made to enhance the fan experience.

World Cup 2023 tickets: No lessons learned

Despite discussions around making the entire ticketing process digital only, BCCI has backed out of the plan. BCCI is afraid that online tickets could lead to duplication and to avoid that, they have decided to continue the existing ticketing model. Although Jay Shah has promised an “elevated” experience for fans, doubts remain.
