“Yes, it is under consideration. See, every 5 years, the annual salary increases. Our players are also due a raise. With more and more cricket at this moment, I think the players deserve it. But it is a collective decision and everyone has to come on board. But if you compare it with England’s salaries, our players earn more from match fees,” a senior BCCI official said.

The Vinod Rai-led CoA introduced the Grade A+ slab with Rs 7 all format specialists getting Rs 7 Crore. Since then, the BCCI has maintained four slabs of Rs 7 Cr, Rs 5 Cr, Rs 3 Cr and Rs 1 Cr.
InsideSport understands that the highest category slab of Rs 7 Crore is under discussion to become Rs 10 Cr. Rs 5 Crore slab is likely to become 7 Crore and players in Grade B and C could earn around Rs 5 and 3 Crore, respectively.
The BCCI discussed the new contracts during the Apex Council meeting in December. But it was put on hold for the new selection committee to take charge. Among the big discussions were out of favour senior players.
“Yes, there has been a little delay due to elections and the selection committee. The final discussions are already done. It should be out by next month,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
BCCI Central Contracts: Who are Gainers and Losers?
Gainers: Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav
Losers: Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Wriddhiman Saha, Shikhar Dhawan
Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha will all get the axe. Mayank Agarwal is also likely to face the boot after a string of unconvincing performances. Shikhar Dhawan is also set to be dropped from the contracts after falling out of favour.
The good news is that Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will get the promotion. Hardik Pandya is currently in Grade B. As he has taken over T20 captaincy from Rohit Sharma, he will get a promotion to Grade A. SKY is also set to be promoted to Grade A. Shubman Gill is the other star who is set to be promoted to Grade A.
The Grade A+ is set to remain unchanged with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul featuring in the list.
Among new entrants, white-ball specialists Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson will come under the new contracts. Umran Malik will also get a place in the T20 only Grade C contract.
What to expect in new Central contract?
- BCCI is mulling a 10-20% hike across all four Grades.
- Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha will lose out on the central contract.
- Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are set for a bumper rise in salary.
- SKY is currently in C Grade with an annual salary of Rs 1 Crore.
- However, as he is currently the World No 1 T20 batter, he will get a promotion to Grade B.
- Hardik Pandya is currently in Group B. As he is set the new T20 captain, he will get a promotion to Group A.
- Shubman Gill will also get a promotion to Grade A.
- KL Rahul who is Grade A is likely to get a promotion to Grade A+.

- C Grade (Rs 1 crore): Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav and Mayank Agarwal.
