BCCI Apex Council Meeting: BCCI likely to hike match fees in domestic cricket up to Rs 50,000 per matchday; Report

BCCI Apex Council Meeting – Domestic Cricketers Pay Hike: The report added that the Apex Council is likely to approve the proposal to raise the match fees of domestic cricketers. The fee can be increased to at least Rs 50,000 per match day for the first-class cricket & One Day matches & Rs 25,000 will be paid for the T20s.

As of now, the players receive Rs 35,000 per match-day fees in Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare. Players featuring in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament receive Rs 17,500 per match. The players warming the bench receive 50 per cent pay of the match fees.

Central Contracts for Domestic Cricketers: Another notable welcome addition will be the central contracts for the Domestic Cricketers by the State Bodies.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had made the announcement of a central contract way back in 2019 when he took over the reins of BCCI’s top job – but now it can become a reality.

BCCI Domestic Cricket – Women Cricket all to be part of the Windfall: Meanwhile, women cricketers would also be hoping for a hike in match fees. BCCI Apex Council meeting on Sept 20, focus on Ranji compensation & change in sexual harassment policy

Domestic Cricketers Pay Hike: Meanwhile, The domestic cricketers, who lost out on Ranji Trophy cricket last season due to COVID-19, are likely to get minimum 50 per cent compensation of their total match fees if the BCCI Apex Council approves the working group recommendation.

“There was some debate whether only those who played at least one game in 2019-20 season will be considered or at least players from last two seasons,” a BCCI source privy to discussions of the committee told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“The final decision lies with secretary Jay bhai but what most members agreed was a lumpsum compensation of 50 percent of what could have been the total match fees for playing all the league games in a Ranji season.”

“That decision would be taken by the office bearers as the quantum of expenditure is there domain. But as per as the math goes, the committee wants that player be paid a minimum of 50 percent and it could go up to 70 percent,” the source added.

BCCI Domestic Cricket: Currently, a first XI player in a Ranji Trophy game gets Rs 35,000 per day and the match fee of Rs 1.4 lakh per game. That effectively means that minimum Rs 70,000 per match could be the compensation amount.
