The 11th edition of Big Bash League (BBL) kicked off on Sunday. While an exciting thriller was expected to take place, it turned out to be a one-sided affair with Sydney Sixers completely dominating Melbourne Stars.

BBL 2021: Sydney Sixers beat Melbourne Stars

Put into bat, Sydney Sixers posted a massive total of 213/4 on the back of explosive knocks from both the openers – J Phillipe (83 off 47) & J Vince (44 off 29). The duo added 90 runs for the opening wicket before skipper M Henriques joined in and slammed an unbeaten 76 off 38 to get the total past 200-run mark. For Stars, Brody Couch was the pick of the bowler as he returned with 2 wickets.

In reply, Stars had one of the worst starts and were two down in the very first over. By the end of the powerplay, Melbourne Stars’ scorecard read 41/5. Barring Peter Nevil (18) and Hilton Cartwright (10) none of the batters managed to reach in double figures and eventually folded up at 61 runs.
