Bayern Munich have finally responded to accusations of racism. Ex-Bayern player Sadio Mane’s advisor Bacary Cisse accused Bayern and the player’s teammate Leroy Sane.
The whole racism saga came out in the news when Bayern Munich were knocked out by Man City in the Champions League quarterfinals. After the loss, Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane were involved in a highly-publicised clash in the team’s locker room. The German was reportedly attacked by Mane. Bayern Munich then punished the former Liverpool player with a suspension.

Mane’s advisor Bacary Cisse blamed the incident on the ex-Man City winger and he claimed that Bayern official has a problem with Sadio Mane’s skin colour. He openly accused Bayern of promoting racism. Cisse has also said Mane’s departure was not a footballing decision. He admitted that the Bundesliga club did not like “an African” being the club’s “top earner.”
The Bavarian powerhouse is unhappy with these statements made by Mane’s representatives and issued a press release that reads, “We cancelled Sadio Mané’s contract by mutual agreement. Accusations of racism, which are now being levelled by Sadio’s entourage, are unfounded and have been from the start.”
In their press release, Bayern also cleared the rumours that Thoams Tuchel didn’t like Mane and denied that the Bayern manager has ever told Mane to not include him in starting lineups. Bundesliga giants wished the former Liverpool player all the best for his future. Bayern backed their stance that it was a mutual agreement between the two in the summer to end the contract.

Press-release added, “Our coach Thomas Tuchel has also never told Sadio that he can never use him. FC Bayern liked Sadio Mané as a man and as a player. Unfortunately, the objectives that we set together when he signed weren’t achieved. That happens in football. We wish Sadio all the best and for lots of success at his new club.”
Sadio Mane joined the Saudi Pro League club, Al Nassr in the summer. He spent just one year with Bayern after making a summer move in 2022 from Liverpool. The AFCON winner will play along with Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia. Mane will be looking to move on from a disappointing one-year spell in Germany.
