Barcelona Transfer: Lionel Messi has been linked with a move away from France for quite some time now. Barcelona have been trying in many ways to bring the player back to his home in Spain. However, it has not been easy and hopes have been very dim so far. Now, there are rumours that if Leo Messi does join Barcelona at the end of the season, his Argentine teammate Angel Di Maria could leave Juventus to join his friend. Barcelona had to let Lionel Messi leave 2 years ago owing to financial issues. Those are the same reasons that now have become an obstacle to bring back the player to Spain. However, as per Barcelona officials, the club is working on viability plans that they will present to La Liga. La Liga said previously that they have to cut down €200 million from their wage bill to afford to bring back Leo Messi.

As per reports, Barcelona have already presented La Liga with a viability plan. The plan includes the sale of 2 big players which will help them bring 4 new players. This plan also includes measures for cutting down their costs over a 3-year period. However, Tebas is not happy with the plan. He regards it as “very complicated” and wants Barcelona to come up with a plan where they can cut costs faster.
Reportedly, Barcelona are not happy with Raphinha’s performance. According to their plan, they could get rid of him and as his replacement, could be welcoming Angel Di Maria. Raphinha has only been able to produce 10 goals and 11 assists from 44 appearances throughout all competitions. Premier League giants, like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, have shown some interest in signing the player.
Barcelona could open talks to sell Raphinha at the end of this season. It is still unknown who else they might be selling, but it needs to be big enough to bring in the money they need. Di Maria was linked with a move to Barcelona last season as well. However, it could become a reality this year if Messi comes back. However, to afford both players, Barcelona will need to show significant changes in their account.
Leo Messi and Di Maria have been playing together in the Argentina team for well over a decade. Together, they won the gold medals in the 2008 Olympic Games, 2021 Copa America, 2022 Finalissima, and 2022 Qatar World Cup. Both started their journey with the Argentina team around the same time and stayed good friends throughout, even when they were rivals at the club level. Hence, it does seem somewhat possible that Di Madrid could follow his friend back to Spain.
