Bangladesh T20 WC Squad: Bangladesh have retained Shakib Al Hasan as the captain for T20 World Cup. But the biggest name that was omitted from the squad was former captain Mahmudullah. Despite decent numbers with the bat, he has been dropped from T20 World Cup squad. The same squad will play a tri-series involving New Zealand and Pakistan before T20 WC, starting October 7. Liton Das, Yasir Shah and Nurul Hasan have returned to the squad following their recovery from respective injuries. Soumrya Sarkar has also been called up but only as a standby. Shoriful Islam hasn’t found a place in Bangladesh’s main squad. Instead, he has also been named in standbys.

Apart from Mahmudullah, Anamul Haque, Mohammad Naim, Parvez Hossain and Mahedi Hasan have also been axed. The drastic step was taken following Bangladesh’s poor results in recently concluded Asia Cup. Mushfiqur Rahim, who recently announced retirement from T20 format following an extended run of poor form, has not been included either.
Bangladesh crashed out of the Asia Cup losing both their games to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. In the T20 World Cup last year, the Tigers lost all five games in the Super 12 stage having made it through qualification.
