In a welcome, positive news for wrestler Bajrang Punia, the latter has been granted bail by a Delhi court in the defamation case filed by coach Naresh Dahiya. The coach had alleged that Bajrang tarnished his image with his inflammatory statements during the protest against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh.

What Bajrang Punia Had Said About Naresh Dahiya
During the protest, Bajrang had alleged that Dahiya did not have the credibility to oppose the agitation, as he was himself facing a rape case. ”Bajrang had sought exemption from physical appearance and missed the first three hearings. He appeared physically today and the court has granted him bail. The next date for the hearing is March 5,” advocate Rajesh Kumar Rexwal, who represented Dahiya, told PTI after the proceedings. Dahiya went on to tell the court that Bajrang’s statements brought him a bad name.
Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat vs WFI, Brij Bhushan Singh
Earlier this year, India’s top wrestlers Bajrang and Vinesh Phogat started a protest at Jantar Mantar against ex-WFI president Brij Bhushan Singh, alleging sexual harassment against women wrestlers. The lack of practice for the wrestlers due to the protest meant that Bajrang could not event win a medal at the Asian Games.
