Saina Nehwal vs Han Yue
Saina Nehwal missed out on the opportunity to advance to the second round. She lost against Han Yue 12-21, 21-17, 12-21 in the first round.
Saina, who has slipped to world number 30, had a poor start to the game. She managed just three points as her opponent raced into the mid-game interval in the first game with a 11-3 lead. The Chinese continued her dominance as she grabbed the game easily.
The Indian made a comeback in the second game. She ran away with a 7-2 lead early in the game. She maintained her lead and soon a net-error from the Chinese helped her enter the interval with a six-point cushion. The Chinese tried to make a comeback in the contest but couldn’t take the lead as Saina took the game into the decider.
Saina yet again let her opponent take back the lead in the third game after she committed way too many errors. Han Yue went on to seize the momemtum and raced away to a 11-2 lead midway in the game. Han went on to maintain her dominance to take the fixture comfortably.
