Liam Lawson has set the Formula 1 world buzzing with his super-sub performances for Alpha Tauri. He has already scored the team’s best finish of the season in Singapore and outperformed Yuki Tsunoda in Japan. Therefore, people were surprised when he didn’t get a seat at Alpha Tauri. In a perfect example of bad timing, Sergio Perez had his worst race for Red Bull on the same weekend.
Liam Lawson Doing Wonders
Liam Lawson is driving a better Alpha Tauri car than Nyck de Vries. However, Nyck had a whole winter to prepare for his drive. Liam Lawson barely got a few laps before being thrust into his first Formula 1 race at Zandvoort.
In an extremely chaotic race, Liam Lawson managed to keep his nose clean. After Yuki got a penalty, he even classified above him. At Monza, he finished P11. And in Singapore, he scored his first Formula 1 points with the team’s best result in P9.
Before the race at Suzuka, news broke that Alpha Tauri and Red Bull were keeping Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda. Liam Lawson went on a mission to show Red Bull how wrong they were. He finished ahead of Yuki on merit.

Liam Lawson Guaranteed a Seat in 2025
There are various reports floating around Liam Lawson and his contract with Red Bull and Alpha Tauri. They’ve kept him as a reserve driver for both. However, these reports suggest that Red Bull has guaranteed him a Formula 1 seat in 2025.
This news gained steam because of an interview Christian Horner gave to Sky Sports. He said, “I think there’s only one seat available in Formula 1 at the moment and that seems to be the Williams seat, and it’d be unlikely they take a driver for one year.”
“So he’s going to focus on that test and reserve role and as do much running as he can in the background, in the simulator.”
