Alize Cornet has crashed out of the Australian Open after suffering a 7-5, 6-1 defeat to No. 27 seed Danielle Collins.
In her first-ever grand slam quarter final, Cornet struggled in the scorching heat of Melbourne and was pictured hunched over the side board after just 30 minutes of tennis.
With temperatures soaring at 33°C, the French star simply couldn’t keep up the energy displayed in the first set as Collins ran away with it and secured a spot in the semi-finals.
She will now play 2020 French Open winner Iga Swiatek who defeated unseeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi in 3 sets.
Ash Barty and Madison Keys will contest the other semi-final.

Iga Swiatek in Semifinals: Iga Swiatek came from a set down to make her maiden Australian Open semifinal Wednesday, battling past gutsy veteran Kaia Kanepi to set a last-four clash with Danielle Collins.
Still just 20, the consistent Polish seventh seed proved too resilient, ending the unseeded Estonian’s surprise Melbourne Park run 4-6, 7-6 (7/2), 6-3 on Rod Laver Arena in a exhausting 3hr 1min.

Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas has made it to the Semifinals of AO2022 with tremendous ease. Tsitsipas easily defeated Jannik Sinner of Italy in straight sets.
Tsitsipas will now face the winner of Daniil Medvedev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Quarterfinal clash.
Tsitsipas, who is now one of the favourites to win the tournament had earned a hard-fought five-set victory against America’s Taylor Fritz in the fourth round.
Meanwhile, his opponent Sinner made his first-ever quarterfinal appearance at the Melbourne major. He had a terrific run in the tournament and in the four matches that he had played before the Last 8 clash, he had dropped only a single set.
But on Tuesday Sinner proved to be no match for Tsitsipas.

Daniil Medvedev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime – 2.00 pm IST
2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev will face World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Australian Open. Medvedev reached the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year at the Melbourne major after defeating American Maxime Cressy 6-2 7-6 (4) 6-7 (4) 7-5 in the fourth round on Monday.
Meanwhile, 21-year old Felix, is making his first-ever appearance in the quarter-finals of the Autsralian Open. In the fourth round he faced the experienced Marin Cilic and outclassed him despite losing the first set with a 2-6, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 victory.
