Men’s Singles

In the Men’s singles, defending champion Rafael Nadal will be the top seed following the withdrawal of World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz who reached the top of the rankings after winning the US Open title last year is yet to recover from the groin injury that he sustained during the Paris Masters in November. This makes Nadal the top seed. The 22-time Grand Slam champion is aiming to lift his third title at Melbourne Park.

Casper Ruud will be the second seed. The World No.3 had a good season on the tour last year. He managed to reach his maiden Grand Slam final at the French Open. He followed it up with another runner-up finish at US Open. The youngster would finally want to start the year afresh with a maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
