Djokovic thanks fans: Amid all the controversy, Novak Djokovic has thanked his fans for their support in what has been a difficult time for him and his family. Taking to Instagram, Djokovic wrote, “Thank you to people around the world for your continuous support. I can feel it and it is greatly appreciated.”

Djokovic VISA Drama Updates: The 34-year-old world number one had his visa cancelled and is now facing deportation from the country, which has been delayed after his court hearing was adjourned until Monday.
Djokovic Parents Protest: In the Serbian capital Belgrade, Djokovic’s father Srdjan led a demonstration alongside a few hundred others in front of the country’s parliament.
“We are not calling for violence… only for support” for Novak, Srdjan shouted into a megaphone, as the crowd waved Serbian flags and homemade signs, including a banner that read: “They are afraid of the best, stop corona fascism”.
Djokovic “met all the required conditions for the entry and participation at the tournament that he would have certainly won.
“Since it’s Novak, the best tennis player and sportsman in the world,” the father told a press conference earlier Thursday.
“Jesus was crucified and endured many things but is still alive among us. Novak is also crucified… the best sportsman and man in the world. He will endure.”
His mother, Dijana Djokovic, added: “I feel terrible since yesterday, the last 24 hours. They are keeping him like a prisoner. It’s just not fair. It’s not human.”
“I just hope he will be strong as we are trying also to be very strong to give him some energy to keep on going. I hope that he will win.”
The Serbians will ask the Australian authorities that at the very least Djokovic can stay, whilst his appeal is heard, in the house in Melbourne he had rented for the Australian Open (which runs from January 17 to January 30).

“I have spoke to the man who took this photo,” Channel 9’s Chris O’Keefe tweeted. “He says Novak showed a bundle of papers to Border Force with Tennis Austalia logos on it.
“It feels to me Djokovic legitimately felt like he had an exemption thanks to TA.”

Pictures have also emerged on Twitter of Djokovic at the Park Hotel where he is being kept ahead of a rescheduled court appearance on Monday.
