At stumps, Australia’s score read 61/1– trailing by 124 runs. Harris (20*) and Nathan Lyon (0*) are at the crease for the hosts. After bundling out England for 185, Australia got off to a good start as David Warner and Marcus Harris accumulated runs at a brisk and steady pace. Warner and Harris put on 57 runs for the first wicket and this stand was finally broken by James Anderson as he dismissed Warner (38) in the 15th over.
In the end, Harris and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon ensured that Australia does not lose any wickets before the close of play on Day 1.
Joe Root & Co flops again- England continued their dismal run in Ashes. They are all out for just 185 runs in a very important clash. Except for captain Joe Root, all the other batsmen struggled. Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon (3 wickets each) & Chris Green were among the pick of the wickets. Mitchell Starc also took a couple of wickets.

Pat Cummins-led Australia won the crucial toss and opted to bowl against England. The 3rd Test between England and Australia is all set to decide the fate of England in Ashes. The visitors are 0-2 behind in the series and hoping for a turnaround in MCG, Melbourne. On the other hand, Australia have won already two straight matches in their pursuit of winning the series.
England had a dismal start to their innings as openers once again failed to perform. They also lost the services of Dawid Malan quickly. England captain Joe Root slammed a fifty but couldn’t convert it into a century. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow also failed to live up to expectations.

Ashes 2021 LIVE- Melbourne Weather Report
5:30 AM IST: No-ball by Mitchell Starc to start off the proceedings
5:24 AM IST: Michael Vaughan, Shane Warne criticise Joe Root for Stuart Broad’s absence.
“Stuart Broad should be playing here (in Melbourne), he should’ve played in Brisbane. How Stuart Broad is not going to be bowling around the wicket to David Warner on a green top, I just can’t fathom that with the quality that he brings.”– Vaughan
“England looks a better balanced side – but I would have played @StuartBroad8 instead of Robinson & Pope looks a good player to me, but Bairstow had to play,”– Warne on Twitter
5:15 AM IST: Boland was presented his Baggy Green cap by injured quick Josh Hazlewood. He becomes just the second Indigenous male Test cricketer following Jason Gillespie to play for Australia.
5 AM IST: Australia win toss, England to bat first. Pat Cummins wants to use the overcast conditions in their favour like the opening Test in Brisbane. Bad signs for England, can they survive Day 1?
