England did not have a great start with the bat. They lost their opening pair of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales quite early. But it is at that juncture Malan decided to take the matter in his own hands. He looked in fine touch with the bat, he began to deal in boundaries.
As the innings progressed, Moeen Ali also got into the act. The southpaw scored a 27-ball 44 to help the team end with 178/7 in 20 overs.
In the second innings, Australia also lost both their openers — David Warner and Aaron Finch quite early. Though the likes of Mitchell Marsh and Tim David scored 40-odd runs, it did not prove to be enough.
