Earlier, opener Ibrahim Zadran scored an unbeaten 129 to power Afghanistan to 291 for five in AFG vs AUS. He received a big support from Rashid Khan whose unbeaten 35 off 18 balls towards the end helped the side post their highest total in Worl Cup.
A win in this game have now guaranteed Australia a semi-final berth. Pat Cummins, who has been leading the team effectively in all formats, showcased his leadership skills as he stayed with Maxwell and made sure the team doesn’t lose any wicket.
Afghanistan can be proud of their progress in the World Cup thus far. Coming into the tournament with just one win from their previous two World Cup appearances, they have defeated strong teams like England, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
