AUS vs SA: The first test was over in just two days. The surface was always going to be favourable for the bowlers due to the lush grass covering it. In the end, the Proteas were defeated by 6 wickets. When put in to bat, the visitors were limited to a meagre 152 runs, 64 of which came from Kyle Verreynne’s bat. Australians’ response score, which was only 218 runs was similarly low.

The 92 runs scored by Travis Head assisted the hosts in building a sizeable lead of 66 runs .Pat Cummins made sure that South Africa did not get out of hand in the second innings with five wickets under his belt and the Proteas reduced to just 99 runs. The Australians successfully reached their 35-run target. Now, everyone’s attention would turn to Melbourne for the boxing day test.

AUS vs SA 2nd Test: Pitch & Weather Report

The Melbourne wicket is a typical Australian wicket where the chin music is played for the batters. There is no doubt that the pitch will benefit the pacers. But as the game goes on, spinners will become more important. Before attacking the bowlers, the batters would need to get their eyes in. The conditions will be perfect for fast bowling.

There is very little probability of rain throughout the test match, and the weather is predicted to stay the same. Throughout the day, the temperature will generally range between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius.
