Rafael Nadal

Djokovic’s rival Rafael Nadal will be the next big name in the Australian Open. He has only won the Australian Open once in his career. He is coming fresh from a victory in the Aus Open warmup event in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Djokovic is yet to get enough practice under his belt amid the visa saga with the Australian government.

Naomi Osaka’s title defence

Title defence has become a big topic of discussion in the last few Grand Slams. None of the women’s players in singles is able to win the title once again. Serena Williams had last defended her 2016 Wimbledon title. Since then, no women’s player is able to win the title once again. Since the 2015 US Open, we have had 16 first-time champions, including Leylah Fernandez (US Open) Ash Barty (Wimbledon), Barbora Krejcikova (Roland Garros) and Naomi Osaka (Australian Open).
