ATP Rankings: 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is inching closer to losing his spot from the Top 10 spot in the ATP Rankings. The 36-year old has been out of action since the Australian Open this year following a hip injury. His absence from the tour has made him slip down to World No.8 in the latest rankings that was unveiled on Monday, 27th February 2023. ATP Rankings: Rafael Nadal in danger of losing Top 10 spot in ATP Rankings, drops to lowest ranking since 2007 – Check OutThe legendary Spaniard dropped down two places this week in the rankings. He is currently at the eighth place and has 3,315 ranking points against his name. His World No.8 position is his lowest ranking since 2017.
He has dropped 500 ranking points much recently as he is not part of the Mexican Open this year. Nadal won the title in the ATP 500 event last year. If he couldn’t make it to the Miami Open and Indian Wells next month, he will be going out of the Top 10. Nadal has been maintaining his spot within the Top 10 for a record 910 successive weeks.

He first made it to the elite bracket as an 18-year old way back in 2005 following his victory in the Barcelona Open. From then on, the Spaniard has held his spot firmly, notching up numerous titles in his illustrious career.
The only person to have spent more successive weeks in the Top 10 than Rafael Nadal is Martina Navratilova. She has been in the elite bracket for exactly 1000 weeks.
Nadal last played in the Australian Open 2023. He was the defending champion but bowed out from the second round after a shocking defeat in straight sets against unseeded Mackenzie McDonald. He suffered a hip injury in the contest and has been advised 6 to 8 weeks of recovery. He is now racing against time to be fit enough to make his return for the Sunshine Double in USA.
