ATP Finals Live: Defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Novak Djokovic, and Alexander Zverev began their ATP campaign with respective opening round victories. Medvedev defeated Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, while Zverev received a walkover from the home favourite Matteo Berrettini after the latter had to withdraw in between matches due to injury. World No.1 Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in his bid to kick start proceedings for the record 6th title on Monday.

Men’s ATP Tour of 2021 is coming to an end with ATP Finals, commencing on 14th November and ending on 21st November. Top players like World No.1 Novak Djokovic, US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev headlining round 1 of the ATP year-end tournament. However, the fans are missing the actions of big players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who withdrew from the season due to respective injuries. The ATP Finals is taking place in Turin, Italy.

Daniil Medvedev vs Hubert Hurkacz LIVE

World No.2 Daniil Medvedev has begun his campaign as defending champion in style. He beat Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in three sets match. He came from behind after opening round tie-breaker to unleash his class. Medvedev beat Hurkacz 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.Hurkacz failed to counter-attack in the remaining sets, handing Medvedev victory in round 1. He hit 15 aces and in his service games and didn’t allow Hurkacz to step into the court. Medvedev has won 23 of his past 26 matches.

Novak Djokovic beat Casper Ruud 

World No.1 Novak Djokovic has defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud in the opening round of ATP Finals on Monday. He defeated Ruud in straight sets after a challenging opening set that went into a tie-breaker. He beat Ruud 7-6 in the challenge after being pushed to bring his A-game on the court by the Norweigian. Djokovic is a slow starter, he was his best after opening. In the second set, he looked in full flow to defeat Ruud 6-4 to kick start his sensational form in ATP Finals.

Alexander Zverev receives walkover

Alexander Zverev got first round victory after he received walkover from Matteo Berrettini. Berrettini had to withdrew from match in the second set due to an apparent abdominal injury. In the opening set, Zverev and Berrettini were giving tough to each other, with latter winning the first set 7-6. However, in the second set, Zverev was leading 1-0 when Matteo Berrettini put his racket down and covered his face all of a sudden due to an injury in his abdominal. Thus, Berrettini had to leave the court in between the match.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Andrey Rublev LIVE

  • Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev will lock horns with each other in round 1 of ATP Finals on Tuesday. Both the players have met each other on seven occasions, with Tsitsipas leading 4-3. The face off between Tsitsipas and Rublev is expected to be exciting.
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas is having decent season so far. The 23-year-old reached his first Grand Slam final of his career at the 2021 French Open, where lost to Novak Djokovic. Apart from this, Tsitsipas has won two titles, including Monte-Carlo Masters, from 20 tournaments he has played so far.
  • While Andrey Rublev managed to be consistent to stay in contention for the ATP Finals. Russian tennis players has won two titles from 20 tournaments he has played. The 24-year-old has reached two ATP Masters 1000 finals at Monte-Carlo Masters and Cincinnati Masters.
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas won the ATP Finals title in his debut appearance in 2018 and will appear for third consecutive time. While, Andrey Rublev will appear for second consecutive time at ATP year-end.
