The 2003 World Championships bronze medallist Anju Bobby George believes there will be good competition at Oregon Worlds, but Neeraj has it in him to win the gold medal. Anderson Peters has been one of the standout performers in the sport this season. He has been winning competitions quite regularly, including the latest Stockholm Diamond League with a throw of 90m plus. Though Johannes Vetter, one of the stars of the event, has decided to skip the competition due to shoulder problems, the competition will be huge with others throwers in the fray too.

“There are equally good athletes at the world championship. There will be good competition,” said Anju Bobby George.

“But also, we did not expect a gold from Neeraj at the last Tokyo Olympics as well. We expected a medal, yes, and then he managed to win the gold medal. So the same thing can happen at the upcoming World Championships also.”

With Neeraj Chopra having delivered in the season, there is great expectations on him to deliver at the big stage. He has been breaking his own national records also. His last throw of 89.94 at Stockholm Diamond League is his personal best too.

Now, the question on everyone’s lips remains to be 90m mark. Can Neeraj Chopra achieve his best at Oregon World Championships and win the elusive gold with a new mark?
