Asian Para Games to begin from 22nd October – Check Full Schedule

The fourth edition of the Asian Para Games will go on for a week and will come to a close on 28th October, Saturday.

After the Asian Games has come to an end, Hangzhou is all set to host the Asian Para Games for athletes with disabilities. The schedule for the upcoming multi-national event has been unveiled. The competition will get underway from 22nd October 2023, Monday. It will go on for a week and will come to a close on 28th October, Saturday.

The upcoming Asian Para Games will be the fourth edition of the event. The first edition was held at Guangzhu in China in 2010. It will be the second time that China will host the tournament for the para athletes.

The fourth edition of the event will feature over 38,000 athletes from 45 countries. The will be competing across 22 sporting events. The opening ceremony of the tournament is scheduled to take place on 22nd October.

However before the Opening ceremony, some of the sporting events will begin from 19th October itself. Wheelchair Basketball will be the first sporting event that will kick-start on Thursday. Action in Badminton and Lawn Bowls will also get underway days ahead of the opening ceremony.

India at Asian Para Games

Like the Asian Games, India will also be sending its biggest-ever contingent of Para-athletes to the Para Asian Games. A total of 209 athletes comprising 196 men and 113 women will take part in the upcoming continental event.

They will compete in 17 sporting disciplines. The contingent will be led by prominent names like Para Badminton shuttler Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam. Table Tennis player Bhavina Patel, Shooter Avni Lekhara and Javelin Thrower Sumit Antil will also be in action in the multi-national event.
