Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS added the 19th medal to India’s tally in shooting. The duo were eyeing a gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team team event at the Asian Games. They eventually settled for silver after losing the final by a narrow margin of 14-16 against China’s Bowen Zhang and Ranxin Jiang on Saturday, 30th September.

In the final, the Indians had a great start. They were leading 7-3 after five series in the 16-series final. The Chinese pair however came back with a bang and in no time levelled the scores 7-7.
From then on it became a nail-biting one as both the pairs fought well to take the scores to 13-13. The 14th series saw a tie as both the pairs shot 20.3 and shared one points each. In the next series, the Chinese pair shot a score of 21.0. The Indians however managed only 20.4 and lost the contest.
Earlier in the qualification the duo achieved an aggregate score of 577 and finished at the top spot. Their impressive performance helped them ahead of their Chinese counterparts, who scored 576 points in the same round.

Sarabjot had earlier won gold in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team event in this edition of the Asiad. Divya won silver in the Women’s 10m air pistol along with Esha Singh and Palak Gulia.
India now have a total of 33 medals so far in this edition of the Asiad. Sarabjot and Divya won the first medal for the day.
