Team India began their Sunday at the Asian Games with a silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event. The team of Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita Jindal and, Ashi Chouksey scored 1886.0 points in all to finish in the second place. The gold medal went to China, who scored 1896.6 points with an Asian record.
Not just that, Ramita and Mehuli made it to the finals of the 10m air rifle individual event as well, scoring 631.9 and 630.8, respectively. Unfortunately, Ashi ended 29th in qualification. On the other hand, the Chinese trio of Han Jiayu, Huang Yuting, and Wang Zhilin reached the final as well.
Interestingly, at the World Championships last month, this very Indian team won a gold medal while China finished second. At the same championships, Mehuli had also sealed an Olympic qualification quota, after finishing third in the individual event. The final of the women’s 10m air rifle individual will take place on Sunday itself.
Silver in Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls
In what turned out to be a great race for Indian rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh, the duo won a silver medal in the men’s lightweight double sculls, early on Sunday. They clocked 6:28:18s in Men’s Lightweight Doubles Scull Final A to clinch the second medal of the day for the country, finishing behind hosts China.
