Hockey Asian Champions Trophy 2023: Splendid defensive display from Japan helped them hold India to a 1-1 draw at the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy on 4th August 2023, Friday. It was the second draw of the day as earlier defending champions South Korea played out a thrilling 1-1 draw against Pakistan. Malaysia registered a comprehensive 5-1 victory against China and tops the points table.

South Korea vs Pakistan
Pakistan remained winless in the ongoing Hockey Asian Champions Trophy after being held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions South Korea. Pakistan had lost 1-3 against Malaysia in their opening match on Thursday.
While Abdul Shahid opened the scoring for the Men in Green in the ninth minute, Jihun Yang pulled back the equaliser for the Koreans from a penalty stroke in the 53rd minute.
Both the teams pressed on the accelerator and created great chances, including some corners, but to no avail. Ultimately, the two teams shared the honours with a 1-1 draw. While Korea will play China next, Pakistan will face Japan.
Malaysia vs China
Malaysia continued its winning run in the 2023 Hockey Asian Champions Trophy tournament with a convincing 5-1 victory over China. With the win, Malaysia are now at the top of the points table.
Firhan Ashari scored a brace while Faizal Saari, Abu Kamal Azrai Najmi Jazlan also entered the scoresheets as it was a complete dominance by the Speedy Tigers.
Malaysia will next face India, while China will be up against defending champion South Korea, as it remains winless in its opening two games.
India vs Japan
Spirited fight from Japan saw them hold India to a 1-1 draw. Japan would be proud of the way they performed against India especially after losing their previous game 1-2 against South Korea.
Harmanpreet Singh (43′) scored a penalty corner for India, while Ken Nagayoshi (28′) scored for Japan. With the draw against Japan, India dropped down to the second spot in the Asian Champions Trophy standings with four points from two matches.
