Asia Mixed Team Badminton Highlights: India’s campaign in the Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championship has got off to a terrific start. The team led by PV Sindhu sealed a 5-0 victory against Kazakhstan in their first group encounter. Mixed Doubles pair Tanisha Crasto and Ishaan Bhatnagar, HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu in the Men’s and Women’s singles, Men’s Doubles pair Garaga and Panjala and Women’s Doubles pair  Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand all sealed victories in straight games in their respective matches. Crasto/Bhatnagar BEAT Tadzhibullaev/Rakhmetullayeva – 21-5, 21-11

Men’s Singles 

HS Prannoy BEAT Dmitriy Panarin – 21-9, 21-11

Women’s Singles 

PV Sindhu BEAT Kamila Smagulova – 21-4, 21-12

Men’s Doubles 

Garaga/Panjala BEAT Kulmatov/Niyazov – 21-10, 21-6

The mixed doubles team of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto kickstarted action in the tie for the day. They clinched the match comfortably by defeating Kazakhstan’s Makhsut Tadzhibullaev and Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva 21-5, 21-11 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in UAE.

In the Men’s Singles next, Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Panarin, who is ranked well outside the top 100 was no match to World No.9 HS Prannoy. The Indian sailed past his opponent 21-9, 21-11 to extend India’s lead to 2-0 in the tie.

PV Sindhu made her return to the court and dominated against Kamila Smagulova. She won the contest with an emphatic 21-4, 21-12 victory to secure the tie for India.

In the men’s doubles match, a dead rubber, India’s Krishna Prasad Garga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala dispatched their opponents, Khaitmurat Kulmatov and Artur Niyazov 21-10, 21-6 to take an unassailable 4-0 lead. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand then sealed the final blow on Kazahstan.

The Indian pair ensured a cleansweep as they beat the Kazakh team of Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva and Aisha Zhumabek by a 21-5, 21-7 scoreline. India’s next tie will be against hosts UAE on Wednesday..
