Asia Cup India squad: Virat Kohli available for Asia Cup, No rest for India players from Asia Cup till T20 World Cup
It is not only Kohli, the Zimbabwe tour does not include seniors of the team. With the kind of workload Indian players have had off late, the rest does make sense.
It also gives the players to come back fresh for the important stage of the year. They have the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, and more importantly the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli will also be back in the continental competition. Meanwhile selectors have decided that there will be no further rest for the Indian team senior players also from the Asia Cup till the T20 World Cup.
“The first team players will hardly get rest from Asia Cup till the end of World T20. Hence this is a two-week window after the Windies tour when they can rest. No further rest will be allowed to anyone after the WestIndies series” PTI quoted a source as saying.
As reported by InsideSport earlier, the Asia Cup squad will be announced on August 8.

All eyes on Kohli: Questions have been raised for the long break given to Kohli. With the player in form, playing matches is the best solution to get back into form, but the selectors have thought otherwise.
So there will be pressure when the player comes back into the squad for the Asia Cup. It is important for him to get back to his scoring ways. Another succession of low scores and things are going to be difficult for India team management, who has been backing him despite his failures.
Competition a threat for Kohli? With Kohli not being in the the best of form, other players are making their chances count. One of them being Deepak Hooda, who has been making the right noise, scoring runs whenever he gets a chance to bat. Things could get much more tricky if Hooda scores big runs and Kohli continues to fail.
