SriLanka Cricket Emergency Meeting – SLC Executive Committee will meet today in Colombo. According to reports in local media, they will discuss the formalities of hosting the tournament in Dubai.

The discussion on Australia tour is also on agenda according to the informed sources. The tour starts from 7 June. But the fresh round of violence and instability in the country has put everything in doubt.

“Cricket Australia has already given us go ahead. We are confident that tour will go ahead. Obviously Monday’s violence has again put some question marks but we are still confident that tour will go ahead”, said a source in Sri Lanka Cricket.

Meanwhile SLC has scrapped the three ODI match series against Pakistan. The series was scheduled during their tour to Sri Lanka in July. Now only the two Tests which are part of the ICC World Test Championship will be played. The tour dates are yet to be finalised.

Sri Lanka PM Mahinda Rajapaksa’s residence set on fire: A residence of Sri Lankan PM, based in the northern city of Kurunagala, was set on fire as protests against the government intensified, reports said on May 9.

The burning of Rajapaksa’s Kurunagala-based house was reported hours after the 76-year-old embattled prime minister submitted his resignation.
