Group A of the Asia Cup 2022 consists of the heavy giants India, Pakistan, and the winner of the Qualifiers, i.e Hong Kong. It can be easily understood that in this group both India and their arch-rivals Pakistan will fight for the top two spots. The opening match of the group saw India defeat Pakistan by 5 wickets and thus India effectively tops the points charts. India made it to the Super four after defeating Hong Kong by 40 runs. Pakistan ran riot and sealed a 155-run win over HongKong in Sharjah to qualify for the Super 4s.

On the flip side, Group B saw Afghanistan make it to the next round with two wins. Mohammad Nabi and Co sealed an eight-wicket win over Sri Lanka and followed it up with a seven-wicket success over Bangladesh. Sri Lanka made it to the super four after defeating Bangladesh by 2 wickets.
