Interestingly, the two players were involved in the last IPL as well. Kohli did not have a great season in IPL 2022 as well. IN fact, his scores have dried up in all formats, and big scores are missing from his stat.

Rashid still believes that the player is not out of form, especially when he witnesses him bat at the middle.

“When he batting in the middle, he plays such kind of wonderful shots that he doesn’t appear to be out-of-form. The thing is there is so much of expectations from Virat Kohli. The expectations are much more from people when it comes to him,” Rashid said in a YouTube video.

He further stressed on how there is huge expectations from Kohli. “People want him to score a hundred every game, every second game. If you look at his show in Test cricket, he has got through the tough time, and has managed to bat well but somehow got out for 50 or 60 or 70. If there was other normal batsmen everyone would have said he is in form but when it comes to Virat, the expectations are such that they only want centuries.

Pressure on Kohli: With Virat Kohli having taken a break, he is expected to come back fresh. During his time off, there have been lot of chatters from experts, stating if he fails to score in the next few matches, Kohli should be dropped.

To be fair, there are several players, who have put forward their claim in India’s playing XI. The likes of Deepak Hooda being an obvious candidate. With the T20 World Cup looming large, this Asia Cup is important. Even if he plays one or two solid innings, he will be sorted for the T20 World Cup team. If not, the pressure is only going to multiply further.
