Ashes Day 4 Summary: England Batting Collapse, Australia Wins Gabba Test: The Aussies started Day 4 of the Ashes 1st Test on a great note. In the first 30 mins of the play itself, both overnight batsman Dawid Malan & captain Joe Root were sent back to the pavilion. Root was dismissed for 89 while Malan went out for 82. Root picked 4 wickets for 91 runs in 32 overs. Captain Pat Cummins & Cameron Green chipped in with 2 each.
Joe Root, England captain said: “Frustration I think, we worked really hard to get back in the game last night and we knew that if we got through the new-ball unscathed and carried that partnership forward, we would really give ourselves a good opportunity to go on and post some sort of total which would’ve kept us in the game – but we were done by Aussie bowling & the pitch”
