Arsenal vs Man City Live: Premier League LIVE – ARS vs MNC LIVE – Arsenal and Manchester City renew hostilities before the Premier League begins on August 12. Wembley Stadium will hold the FA Community Shield final between the top 2 teams of the Premier League teams from last season. Arsenal will be coming back on the back of 3 wins, 2 draws, and 1 defeat in the pre-season friendlies. Whereas, Man City are approaching the match with 2 wins and one loss in the bag from their pre-season friendlies.

Arsenal ended last season in 2nd position in the Premier League table. They also obtained an unwelcoming record of spending most days (248 days) at the top of the table without winning the title. They will look to avoid that this year around and their preparations are going well. So far, they have played 6 pre-season friendlies and bagged 3 wins. They are approaching the match after winning the friendly Emirates Cup against Monaco. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and the win was decided through a penalty shootout.

About facing Man City, coach Mikel Arteta said during the pre-match press conference, “Very excited to play a final and have the opportunity to win a trophy against a team that is the team to beat. They were the best team in Europe last season, and we know what the standards and are how we need to win the game, but we’re very excited.”

Manchester City ended last season in the best possible way, creating history by winning the treble. After spending the summer in a rather celebratory mode, Man City still seemed to be getting their bearings together in their pre-season friendlies. They have won 2 friendlies – a 3-5 win over Yokohama F. Marinos and a 1-2 win over Bayern Munich. They are coming to Wembley for this match on the back of a 1-2 defeat against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. They will be looking to start the season well with another trophy in their bag.

During the pre-match press conference, coach Pep Guardiola said about facing Arsenal, “The situation that we are in, we finished [last season] two weeks later than Arsenal and we start [this season] two weeks later. So, we are not in the best way. We struggle to restart every season but it’s fine, and hopefully our mentality can help us to be there and compete.”

Arsenal Team News

  • Two former Man City men could miss a reunion with their former employers on Sunday. Gabriel Jesus is yet to recover from his previous knee injury. He will miss the first few weeks of the season as he is set to undergo a small surgery. Oleksandr Zinchenko is the other ex-Cityzen that could be missing the match as he’s out with a calf issue.
  • The Gunners have a few more injury concerns. Reiss Nelson is sidelined with a toe injury, Mohamed Elneny is out due to a knee issue, Folarin Balogun is recovering from a foot injury, and Albert Sambi Lokonga is nursing a muscle problem. However, both Lokonga and Balogun are linked with a move away from the club in this transfer window.
  • Coach Arteta could call up Eddie Nketiah to lead the attack in the final third. Additionally, Bukayo Saka could be returning after recovering from an illness that saw him miss the Emirates Cup friendly against Monaco. Even though the Gunners are reportedly pursuing David Raya for the goalkeeper position, for now, Aaron Ramsdale will take up the job under the goalposts.

Manchester City Team News

  • Coach Guardiola is traveling with a more healthy squad than his opponents. Their only injury concern remains to be the key playmaker Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian sustained a hamstring tear during the Champions League in early June. He is yet to fully recover from the injury and could be missing the important clash against the Gunners.
  • Man City’s only other concern was regarding Nathan Ake, who was sidelined for their defeat against Atletico Madrid due to fatigue. He has recovered and could be featured on Sunday in the Cup final. Additionally, the Cityzens could soon be welcoming one of Europe’s most coveted defenders Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.
  • The Croatian defender who has cost Man City €90 million, is set to arrive at Etihad before the Cup final. However, it seems unlikely that he will be featured in this match on Sunday. Another new arrival in this transfer window, Mateo Kovacic could make his competitive debut for the club on Sunday.
