“April now. I’m Happy With April” Conor McGregor To Make His UFC Return Around April

On October 8, 2023, McGregor formally re-entered the UFC's drug testing pool, granting him eligibility to participate in April 2024.

Conor McGregor has announced “April” as the firm date of his UFC comeback. On the red carpet at the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou event on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he provided media with this information. McGregor stated that while he had hoped for an earlier return, he was satisfied with the April timeline. April is most likely when he will return to mixed martial arts, having accepted the necessity to rebuild his career for both himself and his fans.

Since sustaining a serious leg injury during his trilogy match against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, the 35-year-old McGregor has been sidelined. Since defeating Eddie Alvarez to capture the UFC two-division title in 2016, McGregor has only engaged in four mixed martial arts contests. This includes victories against Donald Cerrone, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Poirier, as well as consecutive stoppage defeats.

Conor McGregor underlined how frustrating it was to deal with losses and injuries while away from his career for nearly three years. He stated that he was excited to get back to his normal lifestyle and that he hoped to return in April. “I just want the date, my date, please.”

Conor Mcgregor’s situation with USADA has contributed to the delay in his return. After getting hurt, McGregor withdrew from the USADA drug-testing pool, and he had to wait six months to be allowed to return before he could compete again. For McGregor, the latest split between the UFC and USADA may prove advantageous.

On October 8, 2023, McGregor formally re-entered the UFC’s drug testing pool, granting him eligibility to participate in April 2024. McGregor stated that he was willing to fight anybody the UFC chooses, even though Michael Chandler still seems to be his projected opponent.

“They’re saying April now. I’m happy with April. I would’ve loved earlier, but I have to be — if I’m to be honest and realistic, and for my fans, I want to put in a good run, build myself back, and that’s it. It’s looking like April, mixed martial arts.”
