Mohammed Shami: IND vs AUS – During the fourth Test match between India and Australia, a few sick fans hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Before the start of the Ahmedabad Test, Indian players were seen near the boundary. As the camera panned on Mohammed Shami, fans started saying “Shami… Jai Shree Ram” While the India pacer ignored the fans, the incident yet again shed light on religion being unnecessarily dragged into sports. Netizens were left unimpressed by this low behavior and wanted GCA to take strict action on the Shami incident. Follow IND vs AUS Live Updates with InsideSport.IN
“Shami… Jai Shree Ram”…
If this indeed happened before the start of the 4th test of the #BorderGavaskarTrophy in Ahmedabad, it makes me puke at the insensitivity from certain pricks.
I’d ban these fellows from attending any games here after! pic.twitter.com/AYHK2W5suw

Mohammed Shami: Not for the first time Shami being trolled by fans due to religion
This is not the first time Shami is trolled due to religion. During India and Pakistan T20 World Cup match in 2021, India pacer faced backlash from fans owing to the dismal performance he put with the ball in hand. While it was an overall collective failure of India, netzines felt Shami was the main culprit for the 10-wicket thrashing by Pakistan.
While Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman besides IPL franchises, and even opponent Mohammad Rizwan came in support of Shami, his teammates including skipper Virat Kohli stayed silent. The reason for Kohli & Co not coming in Mohammed Shami’s support is BCCI’s guidelines, “Do not engage with trolls and add fuel to the fire.”
“We don’t engage with trolls, and engaging them would only encourage them. Platforms have already taken down many such comments,” one official said.
