“Anthony Martial is out of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury,” the club said in a statement. “The France international strained his hamstring towards the end of Sunday’s 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford. Assessments have since revealed a muscle tear that rules the 27-year-old out of the Wembley showdown.”

Martial was forced off against Fulham in Manchester United’s last Premier League game of the season and has since been diagnosed with a hamstring strain. Because of the injury, the Frenchman will miss the FA Cup final and may have played his final game for the club.

Manager Erik ten Hag has previously cautioned Martial about his fitness concerns, amid rumours that he might be traded in the summer.

Martial has only scored two goals in his past 12 games for Manchester United, although he did score twice after coming off the bench in his team’s 6-3 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League back in October.

Ten Hag’s lone injury worry for the final is the Frenchman. Antony, United’s Brazilian winger, was stretchered off in tears in the win over Chelsea, but the Dutch manager has since vowed he might be okay for the trip to Wembley.

For the forward who is prone to injuries and has already been limited by five separate physical ailments, it comes at the conclusion of yet another difficult season. Martial’s future at United is in doubt. The attacker has nine goals for the Red Devils this season in all competitions, although he has not played a full 90 minutes for United in the Premier League since January 2021.
