We are all aware by now regarding the series of controversies and debates that have stirred up centred around the word “Cracker”. Apparently, the word targets weak white people and thus violates the guidelines of Twitch. Amouranth and Hasanabi, Cracker Controversy, Twitch, Hot Tub

This all started a week back when HasanAbi had repeatedly used this word during his livestreams. Following his actions, he right away faced a ban from Twitch, which was much debated, by many streamers.

He himself took to Twitter to criticize the stringent step taken by Twitch. Many from the community came in to support him. Twitch sensation Amouranth also joined Hasan in a rather unusual and amusing stream on YouTube, to champion for his cause.

Amouranth was present at the Leftovers podcast along with Ethan Klein and HasanAbi. The episode was staged up to mock Hasan’s recent ban. It kicked off with usual conversations. The pair then shifted to a hot tub and brought the star Amouranth, who is known to have started the hot tub trend. The hilarious part is the tub filled with Ritz Crackers instead of water.

They played a game of “Cracker Bingo” in an attempt to determine who was the whitest person in the group. The game included categories ranging everything from liking Wes Anderson films to enjoying mayonnaise. The game was won by a crew member, Zach, who was honoured with a plate of unseasoned chicken breast.

Speculations have surfaced that Hasan might leave Twitch permanently, and shift to other streaming platforms. The trio, in particular HasanAbi, must have had immense fun trying to respond to Twitch’s ban in such an atypical fashion. Although they had no bad intentions in mind while putting up the show, there’s a slight possibility that it might backfire. So, let’s wait to see how the community reacts to it.
