After defeating World No.1 Viktor Axelsen in the semi-final of the German Open, he was on course to win his final, but the injury played a massive role in his debacle in the summit clash. His leg was strapped and he was unable to move freely. His struggle began in the first set when the score was 18-20. He received medical attention and continued the game.

He managed to get a couple of points, but from then on it was one-way traffic as he was seen struggling with the injury and eventually lost the game.
World number 12 Sen came into the match with a 3-3 head-to-head record against Vitidsarn, ranked 20th, having beaten the Thai in their last meeting at Hylo Open last year.
Sen had won two Super 100 titles — Dutch Open and SaarLorLux Open — besides three international challenge titles at Belgium, Scotland and Bangladesh in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic came in the way of his progress.
Last year, the youngster made it to the semifinals at Hylo, reached the knockout stage at World Tour Finals on debut before sizzling at the World Championships with a bronze.

In the All-England Open, he will kickstart the tournament by facing compatriot Sourabh Verma in the first round. He is in the draw that has third seed Anders Andersen and is likely to face him in the second round.
