The teenagers showed no signs of nerves as they eased to a 11-8 lead in the first set break. However the Chinese duo fought their way back to take the first set.
In the second set, the Chinese duo asserted their dominance early on. But the Indian duo fought their way back with a 6-4 lead. Among the Indian pair, Treesa Jolly impressed with her hard-hitting smashes. Despite the challenge from the Indian duo, the Chinese pair managed to take a slender lead of 11-10, going into the break.
The Indian pair continued to fight and managed to level the scores 14-14. But they lost the plot as the Chinese duo started dominating them and won the next seven points in quick time to defeat the Indian duo and advance to the final. 18-year old Treeesa Jolly and 19-year old Gayatri Gopichand can hold their head high as they became the first Indian women’s doubles duo to reach the semi-final at the All-England Open.

Game 1
The Indian pair shocked World No.2 Korean pair to enter the semifinals of women’s doubles at All England. The duo stunned Lee SoHee & SHIN Seung-chan of South Korea as they came from behind to win the thriller. The score ended 14-21, 22-20 & 21-15 in favour of Gopichand & Treesa.
Shu Xian Zhang & Yu Zheng could produce to be tough opponents in their only first-ever clash. The duo had reached the semifinals of the German Open.
But Gayatri Gopichand, 19, and 18-year-old Jolly Treesa will be ready for the challenge. They had earlier won the Syed Modi International Open final & reached the Odisha Open semifinals in the ongoing calendar year.
