Alex Pereira: Potan should avoid One Light Heavyweight fighter Daniel Cormier says

However, former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has told to avoid One Light Heavyweight Fighter to Pereira about one particular light heavyweight contender: Magomed Ankalaev. Cormier advises Pereira to avoid fighting Ankalaev due to the Dagestani fighter’s elite wrestling skills. Cormier believes Ankalaev’s grappling prowess would pose a serious threat to the striking-focused Pereira. While Pereira has a background in kickboxing and has devastating knockout power, he has yet to face a fighter with Ankalaev’s wrestling caliber in his MMA career.

Pereira will have to navigate a stacked light heavyweight division if he hopes to work his way towards another title shot. Fighters like Ankalaev, Blachowicz, Glover Teixeira, and others sit in Pereira’s path to gold. However, if Pereira can utilize his striking and stuff takedowns, he has the potential to emerge as a new contender in the weight class. Pereira’s team will surely be strategizing ways for him to deal with wrestling-based fighters should he meet them in the Octagon.

The light heavyweight division has become more compelling with the addition of Alex Pereira. His splashy fighting style and rivalry with reigning middleweight king Israel Adesanya add extra intrigue. However, Pereira must heed the warnings of Cormier and be extremely cautious against a fighter like Magomed Ankalaev if they were to meet in the cage. Ankalaev has the skill set to derail Pereira’s light heavyweight ambitions if he is not adequately prepared. Follow InsideSport on GOOGLE NEWS /  For UFC News updates with InsideSport.IN
