Alex Pereira met Sahak Parparyan in the middleweight contender competition finals in 2014. Both men were competing for their first championships. In the end, “Poatan” knocked out his opponent and displayed such dominance that he was awarded the championship belt.

At Showtime 56 in 2012, Andrew Tate boxed Sahak Parparyan, a former W.F.C.A. European and World Champion from Armenia. The Armenian was among Tate’s most formidable foes.

He was the shorter of the two, but he pressed the action with precise combos and leg kicks. After round 5, Parparyan had ‘Cobra’ Tate on the ropes and was able to stroll to a unanimous decision victory.

Today’s combat sports rarely provide one-night tournaments like the one Alex Pereira won his first Glory tournament in 2014.

Sahak Parparyan defeated Jason Wilnis via split decision, while Alex Pereira knocked out current UFC contender Dustin Jacoby in the first round with his legendary left hook to advance to the finals of the 4-man tournament at Glory 14. Two of the three judges in the ring agreed that Pereira had done enough to win the bout, while the third judge was split. With a victory, Pereira would improve to 13-1 as a kickboxer and be eligible to compete for the Glory Middleweight title after defeating  Andrew Tate one of the toughest opponents in kickboxing.
