Five months later, Adesanya finally made a name for himself by defeating Pereira for the first time in their UFC 287 rematch with a stunning knockout in the second round.

Israel Adesanya will likely turn his attention to the light heavyweight category as Alex Pereira is set on taking on the winner of the championship eliminator at UFC 290 between Robert Whittaker and Dricus Du Plessis. There is no set date or opponent for his 205-pound debut, but there are plenty of competitors ready to step up and help ‘Poatan’ into the formerly coveted weight class.
