The letter that has been issued to AIFF on March 7, 2022, says, “the MYAS is directed to convey sanction for conducting an audit of the AIFF from 2017-18 to 2021-22 under Section 14(2) of CAG’s Act 1971. A copy of this report may be sent to this Ministry for taking further necessary action”.
As per reports, this move has been brought out in retrospect after the Special Cell of the Comptroller and the Audit General received complaints of financial irregularities and corruption at the AIFF.
AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das told Times of India, “but every year a copy of the audited financial statements are submitted to CAG. The audited accounts for the year 2020-21 has been submitted to CAG.”

AIFF’s statement reads, “Contrary to certain media reports, the AIFF would like to clarify that it has been submitting a copy of its audited financial statements to the CAG. In fact, audited accounts from 2017-18 to 2020-21 have all been submitted to them.”
“The AIFF did receive a letter on June 18, 2021, from CAG asking for audited finances along with a copy of documents of financial grants from MYAS and other sources for the period from 2017-18 to 2020-21. It was on August 30, 2021, that all relevant documents for the period from 2017-18 to 2019-20 were submitted, and subsequently, all audited financials for the period of 2020-21 were submitted on February 10, 2022.”

Amidst everything, it has been quite a tough time for AIFF. Last month a special Leave Petition was made against the AIFF and claims of mandating the posts held by Praful Patel and Co after serving their terms were made.
Claims were also made against the AIFF President Praful Patel who failed to organize their committee election. Patel after having served three terms must vacate his seat as per the norms. However, Patel claimed that he would not serve as the President for the third term and would give away his post once the AIFF constitution that needs amending and has been submitted to the Supreme Court is finalized.
