The 7-membered delegation from FIFA-AFC has paid a visit to India to take a look and sort out the mess at the Apex football body of the country. Previously the Supreme Court of India asked the previous AIFF President, Mr. Praful Patel to vacate his place after having served his maximum of three terms. The members of the apex football governing body of the country, have also been advised to sort out and scrutinize the draft constitution of AIFF.
The Supreme Court also formed a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to look after the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF. The sole purpose of the CoA is to scrutinize and draft the constitution of the AIFF and conduct the pending elections of the AIFF. With time running out and the U17 Women’s World Cup on the horizon, FIFA will be announcing the cut-off date for the elections on 23rd June 2022.

The first round of meetings between the parties went off well yesterday in Delhi. The Advisory Committee set up by the CoA to assist the CoA and the working of the AIFF was disbanded after facing objections from senior AIFF officials and the FIFA delegations. It has been understood that the formation of an external body to assist the AIFF goes against the rules of FIFA.
The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) member units on Wednesday met the visiting FIFA-AFC team and informed them that the Supreme Court’s intervention in the national sports body was ”out of necessity’.
