AFC Executive Committee: All India Football Federation Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran withdraws name from AFC Executive Committee Elections, says ‘ For the greater solidarity of the Asian Football ‘ – Check Out

According to Article 32.1 of the AFC Statutes (Edition 2022), the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) were informed on August 15, 2022. That the 33rd AFC Congress in Manama, Bahrain, on February 1 and 2, 2023, will feature the election of members for the AFC Executive Committee (period 2023–2027). According to the guidelines outlined in the AFC Statutes (Edition 2022) and the AFC Electoral Code, the MAs had until October 1, 2022. It was to nominate their candidates to the AFC Executive Committee (Edition 2022).
The nominations were received for the following posts:
• AFC President (who shall assume the position of FIFA Vice President ex officio);
• Five AFC Vice Presidents – East Asia, West Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and ASEAN zones
• Six FIFA Council Members, one of whom shall also be an AFC Female Executive Committee Member;
• Five AFC Female Executive Committee Members, one of whom shall also be a FIFA Council Member; and
• A further nine AFC Executive Committee Members.
The AFC Electoral Committee will be in charge of all duties related to the planning, administration, and oversight of the elections. It is in accordance with Article 4.1 of the AFC Electoral Code (Edition 2022). Persons chosen by the FIFA Governance Committee will oversee the elections for the FIFA Council positions. According to Article 32.19 of the AFC Statutes (Edition 2022) and Article 9.3 of the AFC Electoral Code, the final list of candidates was made public 30 days before the 33rd AFC Congress (Edition 2022).
