T20 World Cup Prize Money Distribution

There’s something for everyone in the T20 World Cup. One of the biggest motivators to win could just be the prize money alone. Just for posting a win in the tournament, a team is bound to get over INR 25 lakh. So, four wins would ensure 1 Cr prize money for the teams.

The money doesn’t stop there, even for the teams who aren’t winning as much. For teams placed between 13-20th spots, each of them would get around 1.8 Cr. For the teams finishing between 9th to 12th, they would end up winning around 2.06 Cr each. The top eight teams of the competition would be assured of winning close to 3.1 Cr.

But despite this massive increase in prize money for the T20 World Cup, it is almost equal to what IPL franchises made in IPL 2024. The winners, KKR, were rich by INR 20 Cr after lifting the trophy. While the finalists SRH, made more money (13 Cr), than the T20 World Cup finalists will make.

Similarly, the other two semi-finalists in the IPL, RR & RCB, made 7 Cr and 6.5 Cr, respectively. As for the semi-finalists of the World Cup, they would win 6 Cr each, a touch less than what IPL offered.
