Rishabh Pant

Speaking of players to watch out for in this ongoing T20 World Cup, the first name that tops the list is Rishabh Pant. After surviving the near-fatal car accident, Rishabh Pant is once again back in Indian colors.

In the T20 warm-up game against Bangladesh, he scored 53 runs on 32 balls, showing why he deserves to be on this grand stage. Clearly, he is a player to watch out for from the Indian side in this edition of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Phil Salt

When it comes to openers, one big name is England’s Philip Salt. Known for aggressive batting, especially in the first 6 overs, and  also having the potential to construct big scores. In T20I cricket, having played 24 matches, Salt has scored 697 runs with an outstanding strike rate of 166.74.

Since England is the defending T20 World Cup champions. And to maintain dominance, England’s opener needs to maintain the reputation of a big hitter and score big once again in this marquee tournament.

Cameron Green

Australia’s Cameron Green is another name to watch out for. Over the past few years, Green’s performance for the Australian cricket team has been phenomenal, both with the bat and ball. Green has been considered a lower-order batter and a decent pace bowler. Standing him in the line of a rare breed of genuine all-rounder.

However, he doesn’t have much T20 cricket experience in the international arena. Having played just eight games to date in the Australian jersey. But his abilities are not hidden from anyone. Also his experience in numerous T20 leagues around the world makes him an even more dangerous all-rounder. His role is also going to be important for the Australian camp.

Glenn Philps

Looking at more all-rounders, Glenn Phillips is also one name who can shock everyone with his attributes. This Kiwi all-rounder has had an impressive outing in New Zealand colors to date. Both with the bat and ball, he has impressed many. In 74 games to date, he has scored 1817 runs in T20I cricket with a decent strike rate of 144.

On the other hand, he has also done well with his bowling. Although he hasn’t taken many wickets, his ability to control runs makes him the perfect all-rounder for the team.

Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah from Pakistan is certainly a player to watch out for. Since Naseem is coming back from injury, there will be some pressure on him to perform as he makes his comeback. In a very short span of time, Shah has impressed a lot of cricket viewers with his bowling. And there is no doubt that the Pakistan team relies on him.

As mentioned, he is coming back from injury; we may witness the redemption of this young fast bowler. Speaking about his stats, in 25 T20I matches, he has taken 19 wickets with an impressive bowling economy of 7.92.

Heinrich Klaasen

When it comes to batting in the middle overs and striking the bowlers, no other batter can do the job better than South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen. In the recently concluded IPL, playing for SRH, he has done wonders with the bat, scoring 479 runs in 16 matches with a strike rate of 171.07.

Klaasen has been considered the best spinner player, as he can destroy the spinners with his aggressive batting. Since the Proteas are looking for their first-ever ICC silverware, his form will play a major role in the tournament.

Roston Chase

The West Indies have been playing the World Cup in their hood, which is the biggest boon for the two-time champions. They understand the conditions better than any other camp. And when it comes to the West Indies, one player to watch for is Roston Chase.

In the recently held game, also in the T20 World Cup against Papua New Guinea, Chase impressed everyone with his skills. He scored 42 runs in just 27 balls and also performed well with the ball. Since the West Indies’ surface has been helping spin bowlers, Chase can certainly utilize those conditions really well. With both batting and bowling attributes , he is a player to bet on.

Najmul Hossain Shanto

Bangladesh have been under scrutiny due to their recent poor performances at the international stage. But still, there are a few players whom we can bet on. One name who can do wonders is the skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, although he hasn’t impressed anyone with his captaincy skills. But his past performances in this shorter format are incredible, especially with his batting.

Since Bangladesh is having a tough time, we can expect Shanto to do wonders in this ongoing T20 World Cup both as skipper and player.

Matheesha Pathirana

Speaking about the young bowlers, known as the New Malinga, Sri Lankan superstar Matheesh Pathirana had a wonderful outing in the IPL 2024 for Chennai Super Kings, where he picked up 13 wickets in 6 games with a wonderful economy of 7.68.

Known for taking wickets in the batting powerplay and having the capability to control runs, he is a player to watch for the Sri Lankan side. Since bowling in the batting powerplay and in death overs has been considered the toughest job in T20I, he is a player who consistently delivers results, making him an eye-catching player.

Rashid Khan

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan rarely fails to make an impact at big events. He is arguably the best spinner in the world right now, especially in the shorter format of the game. Having played various T20 tournaments and worked his magic almost every time with the ball, he is surely a player to watch out for in this mega event

He is also the captain of the Afghanistan camp, which is an added responsibility. Although he has had some struggles in the recent past, having played in the IPL after that, he performed decently well. It looks like he is all set to make an impact as a leader and also as a player.

Sese Bau

Speaking about upcoming nations and their players, one cricketer who recently made an impact against the two-time champions, the West Indies, is Papua New Guinea batter Sese Bau. Although the team lost the game against a well-established side, he created history by becoming the first player to hit 50 for Papua New Guinea against a full-member nation.

Since PNG has been eyeing their first T20 World Cup 2024 win and they still have 3 games left, it will be interesting to see if Bau continues his same batting performance against other teams as well.
